Florida 2019 | Day 1 | Travel & Magic Kingdom
Barry on the plane — getting spooked by the water bottle that fell on his butt and knocking over my mimosa.
MCO — Minnie Van picking us up at the airport was like our own personal Magical Express! They even let us drop Barry off at Best Friends.
Best Friends — a little disappointing that Barry wasn't going to be able to participate in group activities, since he didn't have the required canine flu shot. Oh well, that just meant extra one-on-one time with the workers.
Polynesian — check-in was a breeze. Our room was ready and it was perfect. I believe the room number was 3501 — the first room on the 3rd floor. Very conveniently located to the Club Level room for happy hour!
After checking in, we hopped on the Monorail and headed to the Magic Kingdom for the After Hours Event.
Magic Kingdom — the After Hours Event was PERFECT! It reminded me of the old Cast Member Christmas Parties they used to have at Disneyland, where they would close the parks earlier and invite only Cast Members to celebrate the holidays. I think the first ride we rode was Peter Pan's Flight. We walked right on! That usually has a minimum of a 45-minute wait. Then we headed over to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (my favorite ride at MK). Again, we walked right on! Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain — zero wait time! It was too good to be true! Headed over to Space Mountain — picked up a FREE Mickey Premium Bar and Diet Coke. Rode my favorite — the People Mover. Then hopped on Space Mountain, with no wait time! So, we rode it again! Space Mountain at WDW is a lot scarier than the one at DLR. You sit single file, as opposed to side-by-side and you get a sense that you could fall out at any moment.
So, we basically rode everything at the Magic Kingdom in just under 3 hours. A pretty successful first day. We jumped on the last Monorail and headed back to the Polynesian for our first night's sleep.
